We all know it's been a while since I was in high school. My memory of attending a rivalry game has diminished just a little. I must say those memories came surging back to me, for a moment it felt like I had traveled back in time, when I was a high schooler at LAKESIDE DEKALB HIGH SCHOOL. I arrived at Walton's soccer stadium with 5 minutes remaining in the girls soccer game. I then checked out the score board to see that the Walton high school girls were ahead 3-2 and thought to myself “well this is a good way to kick off the rivalry night for the home team”. A couple of seconds later I was faced with the decision of which team side I would choose to sit. In addition, it was only a few weeks earlier that I was so welcomed by the parents and few players from Lassiter's soccer team. They've thanked me for previous videos and invited me to more of their games. But on the other hand, I've also become FACEBOOK friends with most of the players of Walton High School team. I received a special invitation from a Walton team player's parent to attend this rivalry battle. I chose to sit with the Walton High School fans. As I sat in the stands and observed, everything about the atmosphere indicated that this was going to be very exciting Friday night rivalry game. For instance, the stadium's speakers were blaring with music from Lady Gaga, The Black eyed Peas, and Soldier Boy. In between songs the commentator would buzz in with soccer trivia questions. As you can predict, I too became excited and started to monitor the scoreboard's clock count down to the boys varsity game kick off. This was a very electrifying high school rivalry soccer game with chants, cheers, and raves coming from both sides of the stadium. As an intent to encourage you to view the game's video, I'm not going to write about the game. However, there are some few stand out PLAYERS OF THE GAME that I would like you to look out for: Lassiter-- #11 Drake Dinnan, #10 Tyler Happ, & #9 Jordan McCrary. Walton – # 2 Cory Plasker, #7 Matt Shreiner, Goal Keeper Alex McCauley, & “SOLID DEFENDER” #14 Grant Cooksey. Check out the video and let me know your thoughts of the game.
